It’s simple. First, remove the magazine and visually check the chamber is empty. Pull the trigger to decock (point in a safe direction!). Pull down the two tabs on the side of the Glock 22 slide, ease the slide forward off the frame, then push the recoil spring assembly forward and lift out. The barrel drops out next. That’s field-stripped. Reassembly is the reverse.
How do I clean my Glock 22 .40 cal?
After field-stripping, I use a basic CLP (Cleaner, Lubricant, Protectant). Run a patch through the barrel, brush the chamber and feed ramp, wipe down the slide and frame.
